Hey Ghoul-friend!

I saw this greeting in a stamp set somewhere, I couldn’t justify getting the stamp set, but I have alphabet stamps, so I wanted to make it with my alphabet stamps.

My last blog post hinted that I was stressed and rather unhappy and as a crafter I know that colouring is a really good way of de-stressing. I printed off a lot of Hannah Lynn digital stamps onto Neenah card stock months ago thinking ‘I’ll print these now so I’ve got them for when I need an image for a card.” well, they are all still uncoloured, so that went to plan! Never mind, I had the images and so I wanted to colour in ‘Priscilla’ for my card, because she looks like a very cool witch.

Spectrum Noir Pens used:

Dress – LV1, LV2, LV3. Petticoats and hat band – CG3, CG4, LG5. Gloves, shoes, hat and bodice – BGR1, BGR2, BGR3, IG10. Broom – CT2, CT3, CT4, GB8. Eyes – IB1 and True Black. Skin – FS1, FS2, FS3, FS5, FS8. Hair – EB3, EB4, EB6, TN7. Sky – TB8, stars – blender.

DSC01465I used the circular ‘waste’ from the thank you card I made a few weeks ago to create a mask for the moon behind Priscilla. To make the stars in the sky I pressed the colourless blender pen to the card and just let it pick up the colour from the card and repeated on the same spot until the colour had gone. I then added some wink of stella white glitter pen over the stars to make them slightly sparkly.

DSC01466Next I layered the image on some silver mirror board and used my perfect layers tool to cut a 1/8″ border, then I made another layer of lime green card. It was only at this point that I went to see if my image and layers would fit on the C5 card base I had been planning to use… It was far too big… err… plan B! The mats and layers would fit on an 8″x8″ card base, but with lots of white space. I compared the colours in the image to some card I had and Elegant Eggplant card seemed to be the best colour match so I cut a piece of that to go on the front of the card and attached the layers on with roll-on glue.

Then I needed to create the sentiment, so I took some more of the lime green card I had used for the layering of the image and took my Waltzingmouse Stamps ‘Victorian Alphabet’ set and stamped them in VersaMark ink and heat embossed with ‘sterling silver’ Stampendous! embossing powder. I trimmed the sentiment so it would be the same size as the green layer and attached it to the front of the card.

DSC01467I really wanted to stamp a few bits inside the card too so I grabbed my Waltzingmouse Halloween stamp sets and found the sentiment from ‘Midnight Feast’ and the bats from ‘Halloween Party’. I stamped the sentiment in Elegant Eggplant ink and the bats in Memento Tuxedo Black ink.

DSC01469You know how you look at a ‘finished’ card and think ‘nope, not quite right. Needs something more.’? Well I looked at this card and thought it needed a ribbon or some sequins or something, but where to put it? So I settled on putting on some rinestone gems for extra stars on the image.

DSC01471I just adore this image!! I love Hannah Lynn’s art work and I will try to colour more of my digi stamps so I can use them in future cardmaking projects.

Wishing you a Happy Halloween this weekend. I’m going to be watching the Rugby World Cup final (my Australian cousin lives nearby so we’re going to the pub together to watch it on a big screen).

Friday will be my mother’s birthday and she isn’t very ‘computer savvy’ so I feel safe posting this before her birthday.

I stamped the IndigoBlu ‘Sunflower’ stamp on Neenah card with VersaFine ‘Vintage Sepia’ ink. I coloured it in with Spectrum Noir GB1, GB3, Ct1, CT4, TN8, EB4, EB6, JG1 and JG5.

Using my Perfect layers tool to cut layers from More Mustard and Chocolate Chip card for the stamped panel. I cut a 7 inch square of white card and placed the layers on this. I attached the layers onto the white card, then attached this white layer on the 8×8 inch white card blank with 2mm foam pads.

Using the Heartfelt Creations ‘Classic Sunflower’ stamp and Memento ‘Tuxedo Black’ ink on Neenah card three times. Then I used the ‘Classic Sunflower’ die to cut them all out. I coloured them with Spectrum Noir pens and shaped them using my Deluxe Flower Shaping Kit. I layered the different sized petals on top of each other and attached them with Hi-Tack glue. For the flower centres I used Nuvo Crystal Drops in Copper Penny and added Bronze Rocailles and left them to dry overnight. I attached one sunflower to the card, along with a leaf cut from green card using X-cut die.

My Mum grew up in Shropshire and heard a lot of Welsh on Market Day and she also supports the Welsh Rugby team, so she knows a little Welsh. As a result I wanted to get the Tattered Lace ‘Welsh Sentiments’ dies and use them on this card. I cut ‘Penblwydd Hapus’ from Chocolate Chip card and attached it to the stamped panel and on the More Mustard panel.

I made a triple bow from Hempatique brown hemp cord using the Bow Maker and attached it to the card with HI-Tack glue and attached a wooden button on top.

I wanted to present my Mum’s present in a brown paper bag in a ‘rustic’ look, but wanted to add sunflowers and twine etc. so it would match the card.

Josh’s 1st Birthday card

I can’t believe today is the First Birthday of one of my school friends’ son! It seems like only yesterday that he was only a few weeks old when I first met him!

Being a little boy I had to use the Waltzingmouse ‘Kaboom‘ stamp set I got with my Birthday money (in case you were ever in any doubt – all the best people were born in April! 😉 ) When I first saw this stamp set I got so excited – I think quite a lot of my friends (and me) loved comics when we were kids & the love of the style has stayed with me (I still have some graphic novels stashed away somewhere at my parent’s house…).

The co-ordinating die for the ‘Kaboom’ stamp is amazing – you can cut out the inner and outer sections from different card stock and nest them all back together. If you have the time, check out Claire Brennan’s blog or the Waltzingmouse Inspiration Blog to see how effective the die is.

I stamped the ‘explosion’ using Versa Fine Onyx Black ink onto some Daffodil Delight card stock and fussy cut it with a slight border around the ink. The ‘one’ is spelled out using the Memory Box ‘Parker Alphabet’ dies. I cut four squares from blue card, attached them to black card and used my Perfect Layers tool to create a 1/16 border, so the blue really popped.

I think you get a better idea of the colours from this picture rather than the ones taken on the grey background

Well I have a long week ahead (I was working on Sunday & now I think I need to work this Saturday so I’ll have worked 7 days in a row, and tomorrow promises to be ~12 hour working day) so I hope I get through my working week, and I hope you all have a good week too!

Masculine birthday card

It will be my Godmother’s husband’s birthday this week, so I’m making him this card before they fly to the Scilly Isles for a birthday treat.

You’re probably already aware I like Acid Drops and Whatnots. I got some toppers from them & I think this set is rather good – it’s called ‘Martini Man’. My Godmother and her husband went sailing around the world & would have a drink at about 5pm, wherever they were in the world, so I thought they might like this!

The base card for this is black because of the black borders and lettering, I wanted the base to be very bold.

I cut the picture I was after from the page, then layered it onto Real Red card stock and used my Perfect Layers tool to make a 1/16″ border. Then, I layered it onto an orange card (I can’t tell if it’s Pumpkin Pie or Tangerine Tango, but it came from the SU! Brights set) I think this was a 1/4″ border, but I’ve forgotten!

I used a little Wink of Stella GL.LT.GREEN041 on the potions and GL.ORANGE070 on the bunsen flame to add some birthday sparkle (I don’t know if you can tell in the picture though!). The sentiment is from the same AD&W topper page, attached with roll-on glue.

The Martini glasses are a Memory Box die ‘Party Glasses’, I adhered them to the bottom left corner with Quicky Glue.

For the inside of the card I cut a white insert, stamped the sentiment from the Stampin’UP! ‘Happy Hour’ stamp set in black ink, then the Martini glass in Smokey Slate and the olive in Gumball Green.

Happy 40th (male)

OMG! My friend that I went to the Ludlow Food Festival with will be 40 next week!! He gets on really well with my Mum & he wears lovely aftershave, so my Mum will regularly go in for a deep sniff whenever she sees him!

I saw this set by Acid Drops & Whatnots and I knew I had to use it to make a card for my friend, from my Mum!

First, I stamped the largest of the ‘Ornamental Frames‘ in Memento Tuxedo Black ink on white card stock, then masked it and stamped ‘Sexy Beast‘ over the right corner. I stamped the sentiment in the frame, then cut it out with my paper trimmer so there was a 1 cm border around the frame.

I coloured Gilbert with Promarkers; Blush, Oatmeal, Poppy, Moss, Umber, Chestnut, Satin, Cool Grey 4 & 5.

After colouring the image, I glued the panel to some black card stock & used my Perfect Layers tool (do you have one? I think it’s the best thing since sliced bread!!) and made a 1/16″ mat, then stuck this on some red card stock that matched the Poppy Promarker & cut a 1/8″ mat from that. I attached the mats to the front of a textured white A5 card base.

I stuck the white glitter chipboard numbers from American Crafts ‘sprinkles’ on the front, and last, but not least I stamped the ‘Happy Birthday’ sentiment from the Waltzingmouse ‘Say It With Style‘ set inside the card.

40th Birthday-male

Now I should probably get on with making him a card from me!!

Enjoy your weekend!
