Christmas tags 2017

This is just a very quick post to share with you the AMAZING new dies I got from Leane Creatief ‘Holly Leaves Pine Branches‘ and ‘Pine cones 3D‘ that I’ve used to make my Christmas tags this year.

I die cut the smaller of the two pine cones from brown card and inked through the die using Gathered Twigs Distress ink. You can build up the layers and tweak out all the bits of the pine cones to make them really 3D, they look amazing!

I used my Waltzingmouse tags dies to cut out craft tags and stamped the ‘be merry’ from a Waltzingmouse stamps sentiment set using Archival Ink in coffee (as you can probably tell I didn’t stamp the sentiment on the bottom tag well so I tried to line it up again and failed – I really need a MISTI or something similar!!). Then I adhered the pine branches and pine cone with HI-Tack glue to make sure they didn’t fall off under the tree.

Will you be working next week or do you have the week off? I will be in Shropshire to see my Granny.

Friday will be my mother’s birthday and she isn’t very ‘computer savvy’ so I feel safe posting this before her birthday.

I stamped the IndigoBlu ‘Sunflower’ stamp on Neenah card with VersaFine ‘Vintage Sepia’ ink. I coloured it in with Spectrum Noir GB1, GB3, Ct1, CT4, TN8, EB4, EB6, JG1 and JG5.

Using my Perfect layers tool to cut layers from More Mustard and Chocolate Chip card for the stamped panel. I cut a 7 inch square of white card and placed the layers on this. I attached the layers onto the white card, then attached this white layer on the 8×8 inch white card blank with 2mm foam pads.

Using the Heartfelt Creations ‘Classic Sunflower’ stamp and Memento ‘Tuxedo Black’ ink on Neenah card three times. Then I used the ‘Classic Sunflower’ die to cut them all out. I coloured them with Spectrum Noir pens and shaped them using my Deluxe Flower Shaping Kit. I layered the different sized petals on top of each other and attached them with Hi-Tack glue. For the flower centres I used Nuvo Crystal Drops in Copper Penny and added Bronze Rocailles and left them to dry overnight. I attached one sunflower to the card, along with a leaf cut from green card using X-cut die.

My Mum grew up in Shropshire and heard a lot of Welsh on Market Day and she also supports the Welsh Rugby team, so she knows a little Welsh. As a result I wanted to get the Tattered Lace ‘Welsh Sentiments’ dies and use them on this card. I cut ‘Penblwydd Hapus’ from Chocolate Chip card and attached it to the stamped panel and on the More Mustard panel.

I made a triple bow from Hempatique brown hemp cord using the Bow Maker and attached it to the card with HI-Tack glue and attached a wooden button on top.

I wanted to present my Mum’s present in a brown paper bag in a ‘rustic’ look, but wanted to add sunflowers and twine etc. so it would match the card.

I’m sure I’ve said it before, but my Step Dad has a Narrowboat so I regularly make him nautical-themed cards. Today is Father’s Day here in the UK, so this is the card and matching tags I made for my Step Dad.

I used a white textured A5 card base and attached a Kraft card panel to the front. I stamped the ship’s wheel and oars from the WMS ‘Ocean Bound’ stamp set onto Whisper White card stock with Versa Fine ‘Vintage Sepia’ ink to make a patterned paper. I die cut a Memory Box ‘Majestic Anchor’ from dark blue card and threaded three lengths of baker’s twin through the hole in the top. I attached the bakers twine to the back of the patterned paper with Glossy Accents, then added Glossy Accents to the rest of the back of the patterened paper and attached this over the Kraft card panel.

The pinstripe panel was stamped with the WMS ‘Pinstripe Backgrounder‘ stamp in Midnight Muse and attached to the card base at an angle. Then the circle and post card panel were attached to the card with roll-on glue.

I used the WMS ‘Pinstripe Backgrounder‘ to stamp another piece of Whisper White card and cut out a luggage tag from it using the largest WMS ‘Stitched Tags‘ die. The gromits were cut from dark blue card, as well as the Memory Box ‘Majestic Anchor’. I attached the gromits and anchor with Quickie Glue pen.

For the bottle tag I cut a vertical strip of A4 piece of kraft card 3 inches wide, then used the third smallest Spellbinders Classic Circles Small die to cut the hole for the bottle top at one end. At the end with the hole in I scored at 2.5 inches and again 3.5 inches from the first score line. Using the smallest of the Classic Circles Small I partially ran it through my Big Shot so only a semi-circle was cut from the card.

I stamped the WMS ‘Pinstripe Mini‘ on Whisper White card with Midnight Muse ink and cut it to size using my Tonic Studios Super trimmer. The panel was attached over the front of the tag with roll-on glue. I also stamped the rope frame and ship from WMS ‘Ocean Bound‘ stamp set and cut it out using a Classic Circles Small die, then attached the circle to the tag with foam pads.

Quick Easter Tag

I just need to post this quickly before I run out the door for work. I made this tag for a colleague for her Easter Egg.

I used the Memory Box ‘Grassland Border’ die for the bit of grass and the X-cut Easter Eggs die for the eggs – I think the card stock I used was Daffodil Delight, Tempting Turquoise and Bermuda Bay.

I hope you all have a lovely long weekend for Easter!

2014 Christmas Thank you

Wow! Time has galloped past me! I’ve made several similar Thank you cards in different colour schemes so I can thank all the lovely people who gaive me presents for Christmas.

I cut a square of coloured pearlescent card to 9cm x 9 cm, then put a strip of double-sided tape down the centre of it. I adhered some ribbon with the tape, then rotated the square through 90 degrees and put another strip of ribbon across the middle again so the square was divided into 4 quarters by ribbon.

Christmas 2014 Thank you cards

Using my brand new Embellishment Attic Bow Maker (thank you Mummy!!) I made bows for the ‘presents’ with the same ribbon I used for the presents, then adhered it to the top of the presents.

I die cut several small tags using the Waltzingmouse stitched tags dies, then stamped the sentiment from ‘Say It With Style’ in Memento Tuxedo Black ink. I tried to find some bakers twin in my stash that matched the ribbons, but I wasn’t very successful, but I used some anyway to tie through the tags, then attached the loose ends of the bakers twine to the A6 white card base with Glossy Accents underneath where I wanted the present to be. The tag had some 1mm foam pads on it that I used to attach it to the card base.

Then I attached the present to the card base with 3mm foam pads.

Christmas tags

Just a quick post to show you some of the tags that I’ve made to go on presents this year. WARNING!! This post is very picture heavy!!!

First up is the most common tag I’ve made – I used Kraft card and die cut the largest Waltzingmouse ‘stitched tags’, then stamped the ‘Festive Foliage’ holly and berries and then the sentiment from ‘Say it With Style’.

The ‘to’ and ‘from’ are from the ‘Victorian Frippery’ stamp set and the names are made up from the ‘Victorian Alphabet’, unfortunately both now retired.

Here is another, very similar tag to the one above.

I also made a tag from the Stampin’ UP! set ‘Christmas Deer’, stamped in silver pigment ink, then heat embossed with Holographic embossing powder.

This is my secret Santa tag that I made by die cutting the WMS die from gold mirror card and punching a snowflake and attaching it with glossy accents.

Secret Santa tag 2014

Next, my yougest niece is OBSESSED with Frozen, so I had to make this tag for her present:

Am I the only person who finds men hard to buy for? In the end I always go for the ‘easy’ option of a nice bottle of wine or some Traditional Ale. I made these bottle tags by cutting two strips of kraft card, then die cutting a circle at one end. Once the circle was in place I scored the card twice to create a fold at the neck of the bottle and another going the opposite way. I stamped the card with holly, berries and sentiments, then I used the smallest of the circles in my die set, only put half of the die between the cutting plates and ran it through my Big Shot and ended up with a semi-circle that I could tuck the bottom flap of the tag into.

I feel less stressed now I’ve bought and wrapped a few presents!

World Card Making Day 2014

world cardmaking day 2014

Happy World Card Making Day everyone!! Are you excited about getting inky fingers? Ha ha – my fingers are an attractive shade of ‘Vintage Sepia’!

I’m really excited today because I got my Stampin’ UP! delivery this morning & the main bit I was looking forward to was the arrival of my curvy keepsake die! I’ve seen SO many amazing creations on Pinterest that I think I won’t sleep for a week just playing with it!

So below are photos of the first thing I’ve made with my new die, obviously it’s not perfect, I just really wanted to play with the die & MAKE SOMETHING!!!! The tags that come with the curvy keepsake box have been stamped with sentiments from Waltzingmouse Stamps ‘Wanda’s Pantry‘ and ‘Halloween Party‘. The little leaves are from the ‘Funky Flowers‘ stamp set & cut out with the co-ordinating dies.

This isn’t the only thing I’ve made today – this is the card I’ve made for the Waltzingmouse Fanatics Challenge #28 ‘Anything Goes’:

I inked the fir branches and cones from ‘Festive Foliage‘ in Mossy Meadow & Early Espresso and stamped them all over the front of this Kraft 6″ x 6″ base card.

Then I cut the largest of the stitched tags from white card stock and stamped the sentiment from ‘Say It With Style’ in Early Espresso. I cut the re-enforcer from Mossy Meadow card stock, adhered it with Quicky Glue and then inked the edges of the tag with Vintage Sepia Distress Ink.

I threaded some bakers twin through the tag, then used 3mm sticky foam pads to attach the tag to the front of my card.

I hope you will be able to play along with the Waltzingmouse Fanatics Challenge too – just remember you MUST USE A WALTZINGMOUSE STAMP, DIE OR DIGI!

Enjoy the rest of your World Card Making Day!

Birthday Fishes

Phew!!! I’ve done with my annual report – that was crazy! I had supervisors read through it to check it & they asked ‘Where are all your ‘the’ ‘were’ ‘was’ words?’ I don’t know how I managed to but I left LOADS out!!!??

Never mind, that’s all done so now I can do some cardmaking!!!!

I’ve always wanted to make a shaker card, but never had the bits required to put one together. I got some doodlebug design sequins on Amazon, I have some adhesive foam and some acetate & I thought, ‘no time like the present’!

I stamped a few of the Mama Elephant ‘Cosmic Stars’ Pisces stamps on white card stock, coloured them with Pumpkin and Bright Orange Promarkers, then fussy cut them.

So, I used the largest of the Spellbinders ciricles dies I have to die cut the self-adhesive foam and removed the inner circle to make a circular cut-out frame for my shaker. i cut a piece of acetate to 12 cm x 12 cm, then put it aside. I cut an 11 cm x 11 cm piece of Pool Party card stock (SU!) and stamped the coral stamp from the ‘By The Tide’ stamp set (again SU!) in Gumball Green ink, then adhered the foam boarder on top so the coral was nicely framed.

I put the fishes & some sequins in ‘Swimming Pool’ in the apeture, then added some double sided tape around the edge of the foam frame, then I stuck the acetate over the top to make my shaker element.

For the front of the card I cut some SU! Lost Lagoon card stock to 14 cm x 20 cm, then, using the same Spellbinders circle die as for the shaker frame I cut out an apeture where I wanted the shaker to be, and this card will go over the top of the shaker element. Unfortunately, I think I could have done this better because trying to line up the apeture in the card with the foam window was a nightmare!! So, eventually I was happy with the way it had lined up, and I stuck the card to the 12×12 acetate, only to find I had the shaker element wonky & there was some acetate sticking up out of the top of the card, so I trimmed that & I hope the recipient doesn’t notice!!

Birthday fishes shakerFor the sentiment I used a clear stamp alphabet set I have, I don’t have the cardboard back it came with so I have no idea what manufacturer it’s by though! So I used the largest Waltzingmouse stitched tags die to work out the placement of my sentiment, stamped it in Memento Tuxedo Black ink & then ran it through my Big Shot. The reinforcers are Lost Lagoon card stock to bring in the tag to the rest of the card, the ribbon is Pool Party that came as the Sycamore Street embellishments set that was only available for a limited time. I don’t know if you can tell from the pictures, but I put some Wink of Stella White (GL.WHITE 000) around the edge of the tag for some birthday sparkle.

Birthday Fishes tagI adhered the tag to the Lost Lagoon with 1 mm foam dimentionals, then adhered the Lost Lagoon with 3 mm foam dimentionals to the cream A5 card base. I thought the Lost Lagoon looked a bit plain, so I adhered some Mother of Pearl button mix by Tilda buttons to the front with some Glossy Accents, just to add some interest.

Birthday Fishes frontOn the inside of the card I used the InidgoBlu ‘Mr Fan-tash-tic’ Happy Birthday sentiment in Lost Lagoon ink & stamped another Pisces in the corner and coloured him in with Pumpkin Promarker.

Birthday fishes insideSTOP PRESS!!!!! Thank you

The same friend who asked me to make him a Baptism card also did some cat sitting and watered my Mum’s garden whilst I was in Gloucestershire at the BAPSH Championship, so I wanted to make him a quick thank you card.

I already had an idea for a card that I had wanted to make for the Waltzingmouse Fanatics Challenge #22 – sketch, but as that Challenge closed weeks ago I adapted it a bit. I love the new Stampin’ UP! in colors inks & card stock and the second I saw them I knew I wanted to use them with this stamp set; the Waltzingmouse Stamps ‘Folk Art Medallion‘.

The Medallion is inked in ‘Mossy Meadow’, the flowers in ‘Blackberry Bliss’ and the little leaves etc. are ‘Lost Lagoon’. I used the Spellbinders Circles die to cut out the middle of the folk art medallion and then cut a strip of Hello Honey card stock to fit through the hole, then I stamped the sentiment in Tagelo Twist. I cut into the strip of card at the middle and then cut from the edges to the end of the cut to make a fish tail.

I used roll-on glue to attach the white card to the kraft card base & attached the Hello Honey banner BEFORE sticking it all down to the front of the card.

Folk art thank you 1

He LOVES Haribo (who doesn’t?) so I decided to give him some Haribo in a gift box (I wonder where you might have seen this one before?!) and match the gift tag to the card. The tag is the second ‘Stitched Tags‘ die in the set, again in Hello Honey card stock, the reinforcers are from Blackberry Bliss card stock, the sentiment is again inked in Tangelo Twist and attached to the gift box with twine.

Folk art thank you 2 Folk art thank you 3

Well, that’s all folks – I’m going to crawl into bed to get up fresh to do some more writing for work tomorrow (my work takes up far too much of my life).

WMFC#21 Anything Goes!

I hope you’ve all had a nice weekend (despite the weather not being able to make up it’s mind!!)?

The challenge on Waltzingmouse Fanatics Challenge is ‘Anything Goes’, so I thought I would use my ‘Festive Foliage‘ stamps & new dies 🙂

I  bet other crafters don’t have this problem, but I’m not very into Christmas (I think it’s just a MASSIVE commercial frenzy), so I tend to leave all the card making & tag making ’til the very last minute…

So, I’ve decided to be slightly more organised this year & start early… I used the largest Waltzingmouse ‘Stitched Tags‘ die to cut some tags from white card & used Tim Holtz Distress ink in ‘Iced Spruce’ and my blending tool to add colour to the tags.

As I had used the Distress Ink to ink up the tags I thought it would be good to use them to ink the stamps as well… BIG mistake – my ‘Evergreen Bough’ and ‘Festive Berries’ inks did not stamp well at all! So instead I used Stampin’ UP! inks ‘Real Red’ and ‘Gumball Green’; I’ve included the results so you can see for yourself the difference in stamped image.

Distress vs SU! inks

I have some scrap card that I had already die cut with the Mistletoe and Holly Sprig dies to get the guide holes, so I lined up this guide over my stamped images & drew in the guide holes in pencil so I could line up the die over the top of the images & cut them out. Once I had cut out the mistletoe I coloured in the berries with ‘Primrose’ Promarker and a black Letraset Fine Line Drawing Pen.

I attached the mistletoe, holly, berries and reinforcers to the tags with Quicky Glue pen and roll-on glue and stamped the sentiments with Memento Tuxedo Black ink.

Then I attached some twine to the tags, job done!

WMFC #21 tags

I will be entering these in the Waltzingmouse Fanatics Challenge #21 ‘Anything Goes’. There is still plenty of time for you to enter the challenge yourself – AS LONG AS YOU USE A WALTZINGMOUSE STAMPS PRODUCT ANYTHING GOES!
