Mama Elephant Botanic Hello with Nuvo aqua flow pens

Disclaimer: I started this card in September 2017, but  put it into my ‘to finish’ card pile (please tell me you all have one of those!!?) and have only just finished it this month. This was inspired by Amy Rysavy of Prairie Paper and Ink because she made several cards using this stamp on her YouTube channel and I loved them and ‘hello’ is a sentiment you can use for any occasion, so I bought the stamp and used it!

I will be sending this card to my Step Mum in Thailand to let her know I’ve submitted my soft-bound Thesis.

I dusted my Tonic watercolour card with my embossing buddy and I stamped the stamp using my Tim Holtz stamping platform with Versa Mark ink several times to get a good impression on the textured card. I embossed the image with clear embossing powder and heat set it with my heat gun.

Then I taped it to my watercolour board with masking tape and attempted to colour it with my Nuvo Aqua flow markers (I was really struggling to see the shapes as they were embossed with clear embossing powder!!) I did have the stamp packaging nearby for reference! I used Lilac Blossom, Fresh Green and Soft Rose for the foliage and Aqua Splash for the outline. I used a Stampin’ Write marker for the letters in Soft Slate and blended the colours with water brush pens.

I took the above photo in September, but when I got the image out again I thought it was a bit pale, so I added in extra colour using the same pens as before, then fussy cut the panel to adhere to a card front. I wanted to create a stitched border, but I don’t have the right sized die, so I used my Lawn Fawn ‘Stitched Borders’ dies to DIY a stitched rectangle, and it isn’t that bad, so I’m happy!

I added the stitched panel with foam to the card base and I adhered the watercoloured image with foam squares on my stitched panel. Lastly, I added some Nuvo Jewel Drops for a subtle addition of texture.

Do you have the Mama Elephant ‘Botanic Hello’ or ‘Botanic Thanks’ stamps? How do you like to colour them?
