Neon Shaker card

I have been working on this card for AGES, so I’m glad it’s finally finished! I was going to share it for MFT Camp Create Spectacular Shakers, but with one thing and another I didn’t get it in for the deadline and then it went right to the bottom of my priority list!

I’ll share some background with you… I have lots of lovely sequins (I mostly just look at them, so I guess ‘hoarder’ is a completely accurate description!!) but I was looking at my Doodlebug ‘Tangerine’ sequin mix and there were some pinkish sequins in the mix that I just didn’t want in there. So I poured out the mix into a tray and sorted out all of these pinkish sequins into another container (yup, I have OCD), then I thought “So what should I do with them now?”

The sequins sat in their little pot for a while and then the MFT Camp Create came along and I thought “what shaker card can I make with my MFT stamps and dies?” My first thought was to create a window with my MFT Single Stitched line Rounded Rectangle Frames and use my WRMC Fuse Tool to make a shaker element out of the cascading window pockets. Then I thought “Ooooooh!! Those pinky sequins are a bit neon and would look good against black, they would go well with my FL1 Spectrum Noir marker – what could I colour with that? And my trusty ‘Fancy Flowers‘ jumped to mind, so the basic idea for the card was born, it just took a long time to put it together!!!

I decided to make an 8×8 inch card as it has been ages since I last made one… I cut some black Hunkydory Adorable Scorable card to about 7 1/2 x 7 1/2 inches and adhered it to the white card base. To fill the large card area I stamped three of the same flower design in Memento Tuxedo black ink on Neenah classic crest card. I used the Spectrum Noir pens FL1, BP3 and BP5 for the petals and IG9 and IG10 for the flower centres. I die cut the flowers with the coordinating die. I die cut four white rounded rectange frames to build up around the shaker element.
