Hi All! I hope you had a good weekend? Today is another friend’s 30th birthday and I know he got his card in the post so I feel that I can post about it now. He is an engineer who is also in TWO bands, so I really wanted to make him a music/guitar themed card.
First of all I die cut all the letters for the sentiment and stuck the black outlines onto the white bases with Quicky Glue pen as I was worried this was going to be the most fiddly bit and I didn’t want to leave it to the end in case I ended up in a rush.
Next I cut a piece of patterned 12×12 paper from the DIY Shop paper pad down to 6 1/2 x 6 inches and used the Dreamweaver stencil ‘Electric Guitar’ and Imagination Crafts Sparkle Medium in ‘Black Stars’ and Cosmic Shimmer Sparkle Texture Paste in ‘Ocean Spray’ to put two guitars on the paper.
I stamped a few splats onto the patterned paper with the Waltzingmouse Stamps ‘Splat That’ stamp and SU! ‘Lost Lagoon’ ink. Then I started to distress the edges of the patterned paper with my scisors.
I found this gorgeous black card with glitter in it in my local craft shop – I thought it would be good for adding a bit of bling to masculine cards, so I wanted to see if I could emboss it with the Crafts-Too ‘Musical Notes’ embossing folder. The card tore a bit, so if you put it up to the light you could see the light come through the shapes embossed into it, but as it was going to be attached to a card base, I figured it wouldn’t matter too much. To pull in the turquoise/teal of the ‘Ocean Spray’ texture paste I went over the edges of the embossed card with Creative Expressions Metallic Gilding Wax in ‘Teal’. The embossed panel was attached to an 8 x 8 inch square card base with HI-Tack very sticky glue.
Next the patterned paper with the paste guitars was attached over the top of the embossed pane. Because of the uneven surface created by the sparkle texture paste I attached the letters with Hi-Tack very sticky glue.
I hope this gives you inspiration for a masculine card, or for a music lover in your life. Have a great week!
